Dr Milton Erickson is recognised by many to be the greatest hypnotherapist in history to date. He revolutionised the field of psychotherapy by emphasising the importance of working with every client in an individual, personal manner, rather than by simply seeking to categorise his clients by pigeonholing them into pre-determined 'character types'. He understood that we are all unique human beings and that therefore unique methods need to be utilised to meet the specific needs of each client. Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state that we all experience during our day-to-day lives. When utilised for therapeutic purposes in addition with certain skills it becomes Hypnotherapy which is a method that has been successfully scientifically evaluated as being highly effective for helping people to overcome challenges, make changes and generally improve their lives (indeed, people involved in conducting such research at a local university have trained with us in Hypnotherapy skills in order to accentuate their results).

This Accredited Hypnotherapy Training Programme has been designed to help you to learn the fundamental aspects of Hypnotherapy, NLP and Life Coaching - for use in professional practice.  This means that this Hypnotherapy course has been designed by - and is presented by - practising hypnotherapists (with years of experience) specifically for people like you who have chosen to become practising hypnotherapists.

Importantly, we will not simply bombard you with handouts covering the theory of hypno-psychotherapy without providing practical demonstrations of the methods being taught, but rather, along with providing you with comprehensive, useful, course material we will demonstrate Hypnotherapy, NLP and Life Coaching principles for you to observe - and experience - on a regular basis.

Nor will we present a few unconnected demonstrations of stage hypnosis-style techniques that have little or no currency in the field of modern professional Hypnotherapy practice, but rather, we will regularly demonstrate methods that have direct therapeutic application which have a track record of achieving powerful results for our clients. The Curriculum

Dedicated Hypnotherapy/NLP & Life Coach Training Course

Our Ericksonian Hypnotherapy Diploma Course covers a dedicated training programme of tutor led tuition, taking place over several months in Bournemouth, Dorset. Each training session lasts about 7.5 hours. and a number of weeks are allowed to pass between each class in order for you to be able to undertake periods of home study and other course work. Below - in order for you to make an informed choice - you will find some more detailed information relating to the elements included within the training programme - guidelines to which we adhere in order to provide training which meets professional, recognised standards.

Purpose of Training

This Accredited Hypnotherapy Training Course is designed specifically to prepare you to be able to competently commence clinical practice as a professional Hypnotherapist upon successful completion.

Competency

On an observational level we will ensure that your competencies meet the required standard of both theoretical understanding and practical application of the subject before qualification is awarded, in line with the criteria set by the accrediting bodies.  This means that you will not leave our course with a paper qualification while only partially skilled and lacking in confidence.

The Format

The curriculum of the course is divided to cover approximately 50% practical training and 50% theory training which includes:

Fostering Rapport

Understanding the need for rapport and learning a number of ways in which rapport can be established and enhanced is important. As you qualify you will become skilled at utilising NLP-based, pacing, leading, matching and mirroring principles.

Developing Effective Communication

We teach in-depth analysis of Non Verbal Communication (NVC) skills. You will learn to understand and appreciate the distinctions in the art of effective communication. Covering tonality, inflection, pace of delivery and speech pattern styles.

Trance Inductions

We will demonstrate a number of formal ('classical') inductions along with our regular examples of permissive Ericksonian techniques. You will learn how to conclude a trance in a variety of ways having learned a number of principles for doing so.

Trance Checklist

You will discover which elements you need to cover with your clients before commencing a hypnotherapy session.  (It's important to 'preframe' yo ur work.)

Therapeutic Intervention Techniques

You will learn a wide variety of both direct and indirect therapeutic techniques for use in clinical practice. (This ensures flexibility on your part.)

Information Gathering

It's vital that trainees understand what the therapist needs to know about his/her client and what the client needs to know about his/her therapy. You will learn how to effectively use case notes and record keeping, along with exploring issues like confidentiality, boundaries, areas of specialism, treatment costs, etc.

How to deal with abreaction

Your training as a clinical practitioner will include understanding what an abreaction is, why it sometimes occurs and how to deal with it.

Revivification/Transderivational Search and related investigatory techniques

On this course we will teach you the art of hypnotic revivification and related investigatory techniques for therapeutic work including content free NLP based methods and non verbal techniques.

Theoretical Training

Your theoretical training with us will include an understanding of the history of hypnosis, NLP and coaching.

Core Skills

You will have ample opportunity to practice all of the Core Skills; which include Hypnotherapy, NLP and Life Coaching methods - in the classroom - so that you can receive guidance and support as you develop your practitioner competency.

Contraindications

Certain conditions necessitate special care when considering the use of hypnotherapy - we’ll cover what they are and what options you have.

Written and oral assessment

You'll be invited to complete some written work to demonstrate your understanding of various Hypnotherapy and NLP techniques along with oral assessment of your therapeutic language patterns (which takes place as a natural part of your ongoing learning process, as we observe you working with others).

Demonstration and observation

Throughout the training course you will be able to demonstrate your skills in a variety of practical exercises. These will be observed by the tutors in order to further help you correctly develop your expanding repertoire of therapeutic tools.

Specialised Units

As previously outlined our training course includes learning interconnected Neuro Linguistic Programming approaches which dovetail neatly into the Hypnotherapy skills that you'll be developing.

Membership

Once qualified you'll be able to apply for membership of The General Hypnotherapy Register and The Hypnotherapy Association.

During this programme you will first be led in an increment al way to explore the state of hypnosis, while discovering how to help people improve their confidence and self-esteem as you further learn to develop your skills in order to utilise regression principles for therapeutic purposes.
